Sightsavers changes lives around the world by preventing avoidable blindness and restoring sight for people with conditions such as cataracts. But there are still thousands of people who need your help this autumn.
Children like Enoch. At just two years old, he has already experienced tragedy in his life. His mother sadly passed away shortly after he was born, and with his father absent it fell to his grandparents to take him in. They soon realised he was struggling to see. Enoch had cataracts.
A cataract is a small build-up of protein in the eye which, if left untreated, can lead to blindness. This is especially damaging for children as it can stop their eyes from developing properly. If it’s not treated in time their sight may never return, leaving them permanently blind.
Enoch was already struggling to walk, and without a sight-restoring operation from Sightsavers, he could also risk missing out on an education. Blindness could have cruelly robbed Enoch of the chance to fulfil his potential. So please, will you donate today and help us reach the thousands more children who need your help?
