International companies operating abroad are coming under increasing scrutiny from the general public, investors, staff and other stakeholders.
Sightsavers is regarded as a leading UK INGO by our partners in the 33 countries where we operate. The projects we support provide real change to the lives of our beneficiaries. It is for this reason that we attract the support of a number of high-profile international and multinational companies.
For example, Barclays Africa are committed to supporting projects in seven countries with an extremely generous donation of £100,000 per year for three years.
These projects encompass a whole range of Sightsavers' services, including: preventative measures, sight restoration, rehabilitation of adults who are blind and education in mainstream schools for blind children. The projects are located in Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Uganda - where Barclays has a strong presence.
Barclays has a strong reputation for supporting those in underserved areas in areas where they operate. Publicity, high profile events and employee participation are organised by staff from Barclays and Sightsavers.
