i:care week 18 to 22 June 2012
Be part of i:care week 2012 to learn about avoidable blindness and inclusive education around the world using free Sightsavers resources.
This year i:care day has become i:care week, and we have new and exciting classroom activities and curriculum linked lesson plans for your students to learn about people living with visual impairments and blindness in developing countries.
Exciting activity ideas!
- Wear Bright for Sight – a non-uniform day for staff and pupils!
- Blindfold ‘feely bag’ activity – guess what it is without seeing
- Blind Sports Day – pupils work in pairs (one blindfolded) to win games/races or rope relays
- Take part in our national Junior Painter competition for the chance to win great prizes! This year’s theme is i:dream.
- Cataract simulation activity using bubblewrap
- Design your own sensory games!
- Fly a kite for sight – create and fly kites; award prizes for the longest time up in the sky!
- Alphabet Braille cards – learn to read and write your name in Braille
Request a Sightsavers speaker!
We even have 140 Sightsavers speakers around the UK who can come to your school, free of charge, and lead an informative assembly or hands on workshop, with activities that help students understand what it might be like to be blind.
