Sightsavers International is proud to receive funding from a wide range of charitable trusts and foundations – this support is absolutely crucial to our ongoing work around the world. From a regular donation of just a few pounds a month, a one-off donation of a thousand pounds or an ongoing commitment to fully fund an entire project, the support of your trust will change lives.
Our current trust partnerships include full funding for a childhood blindness programme in Tamil Nadu, India that aims to screen almost 90,000 children currently at risk from preventable blindness and generous support that will enable us to equip a specialist eye hospital in Pakistan. Your support can make a similar difference to numerous lives.
Trusts and Foundations – how you can help
Eliminating avoidable blindness is something that all of us can help to achieve. The World Bank, for example, has described cataract surgery as one of the most cost-effective interventions possible in public health. No matter what size of donation you are considering, your support will enable Sightsavers to change the lives of blind and visually impaired people in the developing world.
Below is a list of examples of how support such as yours can dramatically change lives for the better:
- £17 could support an operation to restore sight to an adult with cataract
- £27 could support an operation to restore sight to a child with cataract
- £400 could provide Braille versions of primary school text books for each of the five core subjects, to help a blind child study
- £4,000 could provide an operating microscope for a hospital
- £4,568 could support a course in cataract surgery
- £15,000 could provide a robust vehicle to ensure outreach services can reach remote areas over difficult terrain
- £100,000 could support a Comprehensive Eye Services project that would provide eye care, rehabilitation and education services to an entire community.
