Volunteering

Sightsavers is currently looking for volunteer speakers to help raise awareness of our vital work around the world.

Please note that we are only looking for volunteer speakers to help us in the UK.

We would especially like to hear from people able to work in the following areas:

  • East and West Midlands
  • Wales

If you have good presentation skills, are willing to work evenings and weekends and are happy to travel please contact Russell Richards at rrichards@sightsavers.org or on 01275 349881. Training will be given and expenses reimbursed.

Our volunteers

Frances Johnson, pictured above, is one of our volunteer speakers and has proved a real inspiration to the groups she has spoken to – in a single month Frances has raised thousands of pounds for Sightsavers! In the image above she is accepting a kind donation from Alison Solomon, President of the Three Valleys Club, a social and community fundraising organisation that specialises in supporting local charities while having fun at the same time.

For more information on what volunteering for Sightsavers is like, please read our meet the volunteers article, which has an interview with Jane Whaley, who has been volunteering with us since 2004.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Malawi: A trip of a lifetime

When a group of Sightsavers volunteers had five unforgettable days in Malawi, Tom Shenton, a retired marketing and technical adviser in the chemical industry, kept a detailed diary.
