Education
Disabled children constitute more than a third of the approximately 67 million children who are not currently enrolled in primary school. Yet access for disabled children is often not a policy priority. A quality education is one of the keys to empowerment; raising self esteem and lifting people out of poverty.
Our ultimate aim is that governments ensure that all disabled children have the opportunity to receive a quality education within the wider education system. In the short term, we will demonstrate approaches to delivering high quality education for visually impaired children in their local context, which are scalable, adaptable and cost effective.
Here are some key resources, some produced by Sightsavers alone and some in collaboration with others, which showcase our position and research findings on key issues within education that affect the lives of visually impaired people.
