Have you heard of the ‘Send my friend to school’ campaign? Do you care about the fact that millions of children like you are missing out on getting an education?
Around the world there are 72 million children who don’t have the chance to go to school and about a third of these children are missing out because they are disabled. Other children are missing out because they are having to work in jobs to help their family afford food and clothes. Sightsavers wants to do something about this problem and help these children get into school and that’s why we are supporting the ‘Send my friend’ campaign.
This year the campaign is all about football and goals because it’s the World Cup in South Africa! As well as famous footballers scoring goals during the World Cup we want people around the world to think about another goal; the goal of getting all the children who are missing out into school.
There is a great website with loads of ideas for lessons at: www.sendmyfriend.orgWhy not check it out with your teacher and help us to make a better and brighter future for millions of children around the world?
