“My name is Jewel and I was blind from the age of four. I live in Bangladesh. Although I started at school I couldn’t cope due to my blindness so I dropped out.
Then a few years ago a doctor came to my village and looked at my eyes. He said that I had cataracts in both eyes and needed two operations.
I am now back in school and I can read write and do all the normal activities. I can play with my friends and look after myself. My favourite game is cricket and I support Australia. I love watching cartoons and nature programmes and I love flying my kite. I want to be a policeman when I grow up and catch criminals!”
