Statistics

It was a busy year last year for Sightsavers, and saw us achieve many successes. Amongst these were:

  • Over 15 million people were seen by our local partners, and 8 million people were treated as a result.
  • We supported 350,323 eye operations.
  • 23 million people were protected against river blindness in Africa.
  • We supported the training of 152, 585 primary eye care workers.
  • Our partners helped 4,577 people who are blind to lead independent lives by training in mobility, orientation and life skills.
  • We supported 6,315 children who are visually impaired to attend mainstream schools.
