Sell on eBay

Supporting us through eBay is easy. When listing items for sale you can choose to donate a percentage, or all, of your item's final selling price to Sightsavers.

eBay has partnered with MissionFish, a non-profit service provider, to manage the donation process, so you don't have to. This includes claiming Gift Aid on your donation if you have made a Gift Aid declaration, which means that the HM Revenue & Customs (formerly Inland Revenue) will donate an additional 28p for every pound that you give to your chosen charity.

eBay for Charity listings are unique

All eBay for Charity listings are integrated into the main eBay site, so buyers can find them easily. Additionally, the programme has several unique features that help your listings stand out:

  • Buyers can search for eBay for Charity listings through Advanced Search and customised search options
  • Each eBay for Charity listing has a distinctive blue and yellow ribbon in search results and the title bar. It also has information about your donation amount and the benefiting charity in the item description
  • Buyers can also search for listings on the dedicated eBay for Charity page

How to get involved

Individuals who support Sightsavers through their eBay sales are known as Community Sellers. Community Sellers can create eBay for Charity listings through eBay’s Sell Your Item form.

Selling on eBay

It takes a few minutes to set yourself up as a seller on eBay, but once you've done this it's very easy to actually put your goods up for sale. The process involves:

  • Registering. If you have bought anything from eBay before, you will already be a registered user.
  • Setting up a seller's account by providing a valid credit/debit card and bank account information.
  • Signing up to accept PayPal (eBay's online payment system)
  • If you want to use PayPal to accept buyers' credit card payments online, we recommend signing up before you list your first item for sale. Register for PayPal.

eBay has very comprehensive instructions about how to set yourself up as a seller - this is one of the main reasons why it has become so popular over the last few years - so we'd advise just reading through and following them.
