Our history

Sightsavers was founded by Sir John Wilson in 1950. Since then, we’ve changed millions of lives worldwide.

Protecting sight

Sightsavers prevents avoidable blindness and protects the sight of some of the world’s most vulnerable people by providing eye surgery and training eye care workers to provide vital treatment.

Disability rights

We work to create a world where all people can access health, education and employment, and participate equally in society without fear of discrimination.
