Join Sightsavers and go Bright for Sight on 21 June! This easy-to-host fundraising event enables companies to help us fight avoidable blindness and change lives.

Just wear yellow to work and you and your colleagues can raise funds to help restore the sight of people who are needlessly blind. To make the most of your Bright for Sight event, get your colleagues together by hosting a barbeque, bake sale or even a video game competition!

Sightsavers’ vision is of a world where no one is blind from avoidable causes. By going Bright for Sight this June, you and your colleagues can help us restore the sight of people who are blind from cataracts. Just €32 can provide an adult with a sight-restoring cataract operation, transforming their life.

Why yellow? Yellow is the colour that is easiest for someone with a visual impairment to see. There are 36 million people in the world who are blind, but 75% of blindness could be prevented or cured.

Ideas to boost your fundraising

As well as wearing yellow, there are so many ways you can make the most of your Bright for Sight event

  • Why not set a fundraising target to inspire your colleagues and give you something to aim for?
  • If you work in a larger company, nominate a Bright for Sight champion to promote the event internally and encourage people to take part.
  • On the day, you could incorporate other fundraising ideas, such as a bake sale, coffee morning, raffle or pizza day – let your imagination go wild!
  • If you’re a retailer, consider placing a collection bucket at the checkout to get your customers involved or use our Bright for Sight barcode to add €1 to customers’ bills.
  • For more tips and ideas, download our fundraising pack.
