Sightsavers and eye care provider Optical Express have launched a new charity partnership on World Sight Day, Thursday 12 October, by holding a nationwide bake sale called ‘The Big Bake’.

As part of the event, Optical Express staff raised money to save sight by channelling their inner Mary Berry. It marked the start of a long-term partnership that will see the organisation raise funds for Sightsavers’ Million Miracles appeal, which aims to fund one million cataract operations by the end of 2017.

Optical Express will also donate £30 – the cost of a life-changing cataract operation in a developing country – to Sightsavers from every lens surgery booked before 30 November 2017.
