In 2015, Sightsavers launched its first social inclusion strategy.
The empowerment and inclusion strategic framework was developed in close collaboration with disability groups internationally, and explains our rights-based approach to social inclusion and the progressive mainstreaming of disability throughout our programming and operations. The framework complements our other global strategies on eye health, education, neglected tropical diseases and research.
The purpose of this annual report is to share learning both internally and externally, and to highlight our work on inclusion from July 2016 to June 2017. The report is also designed to stimulate and challenge both ourselves and our partners: past, current and future.
