Disability inclusive elections: training toolkit

In many countries, people with disabilities face barriers when voting, standing for election or influencing policy.

Our toolkit helps election observers to identify and address the barriers that people with disabilities often face when exercising their right to vote.

• Voting rights of people with disabilities
• Key principles behind inclusive elections

By the end of the training, election staff will able to carry out accessibility audits at their polling stations and give recommendations to make voting more inclusive for people with disabilities.

The toolkit is part of Sightsavers’ inclusive citizenship work, which supports people with disabilities – particularly women and young people – to engage in political life, governance processes and civil society, so they can claim their rights and influence inclusive policies.
