About Sightsavers

Our vision is of a world where no one is blind from avoidable causes, and where people with disabilities participate equally in society.

Protecting sight

We prevent sight loss and avoidable blindness in some of the poorest parts of the world by treating conditions such as cataracts and fighting debilitating eye diseases.

Disability rights

We promote equal opportunities for people with disabilities, and we campaign for disability rights so everyone has the chance to receive an education, earn a living and be happy.

Working locally

We work with governments around the world to tackle the problems at the root of avoidable blindness, and we work with local communities to support people who need it most.

Our history

Sightsavers works in more than 30 countries worldwide, focusing on Africa and Asia.

We partner with local, regional, national and international organisations, ministries, governments and non-governmental organisations. With their help, we distribute treatments to prevent disease, carry out operations and eye examinations, advocate for disability rights and strengthen health systems to create sustainable development projects. Our vision is of a world where avoidable blindness has been eliminated, and people with visual impairments and other disabilities have the same opportunities as everyone else. We can only get there thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our supporters, so we aim to be as transparent as possible so you can be sure your money is being used wisely. Read about how we’re run
