About Sightsavers

Our vision is of a world where no one is blind from avoidable causes, and where people with disabilities participate equally in society.

Protecting sight

We prevent sight loss and avoidable blindness in some of the poorest parts of the world by treating conditions such as cataracts and fighting debilitating eye diseases.

Disability rights

We promote equal opportunities for people with disabilities, and we campaign for disability rights so everyone has the chance to go to school, earn a living and be happy.

Working locally

We work with governments around the world to tackle the problems at the root of avoidable blindness, and we work with local communities to support people who need it most.

Our history

Sightsavers works in more than 30 countries worldwide, focusing on Africa and Asia.

We work with local, regional, national and international partners and governments. With their help, we distribute treatments to prevent disease, carry out eye operations, advocate for disability rights and improve health services to create sustainable development projects. Find out where we work
