Nominate your colleague who has been a workplace hero this year. As we strive to eliminate avoidable blindness in the countries where we work, our sight-saving heroes need your help now more than ever.

By taking part in our Support a Hero campaign and nominating your special colleague, they will be in with a chance to win a special prize worthy of a hero!

How can I get involved?

To get involved, make your Christmas donation this year to Sightsavers Ireland and nominate your workplace hero. With a donation of €500, the employee could win one of these special prizes:

One-night bed and breakfast for two in the exclusive five-star Intercontinental Dublin

As a special thanks to you, your nominated hero and your company for taking part, we will send you a thank-you video from one of our incredible and inspiring Sightavers heroes to share with your colleagues along with a certificate of recognition for your workplace nominated hero.

Your support will help our own sight-saving heroes who are protecting and restoring sight to thousands of people in need.

Each day, our heroes are committed to protecting and restoring the sight of people who would otherwise face the possibility of a lifetime of blindness.

Gladys Atto is one of our fantastic heroes who works tirelessly to help perform sight-saving operations in Uganda.

Gladys was, incredibly, the first and only cataract surgeon and ophthalmologist when she started working at Moroto hospital in Uganda – a hospital that serves a population of about 1.2 million people. Gladys is just one of the talented cataract surgeons whose training has been supported by people like you, and despite the challenges she faces, Gladys is fully committed to making life-changing surgery happen. This year our heroes need your support more than ever so that they can continue to deliver real and lasting change.

How will I be making a difference?

Sightsavers’ vision is of a world where no one goes blind needlessly and where people with disabilities participate equally in society. There are 36 million people in the world who are blind – but almost half of all visual impairment can be prevented or cured. Shocked at how unfair this is? So are we.

Through your donation this Christmas, you and your colleagues can help us train and support more of our heroes who save sight and change lives, one surgery at a time.

Through a donation of €500, your company can provide 16 adults with a sight-restoring cataract operation, transforming their lives and their futures.
