Why do we need your support this Christmas?

More than 184,000 children worldwide are blind from cataracts.

But just £94 can pay for an operation to restore a child’s sight.

This operation can transform the life of a child like Joseph.

Your generous gifts will light up our Christmas tree. If we reach our £3,000 fundraising target this week, this could help 31 children like Joseph see clearly.

Joseph, who is pictured above, was treated thanks to donors like you. Your gifts ensured doctors, surgeons, volunteers and his family were able to work together to restore his sight.

But there are still many more children who need our help. That’s why we’re asking supporters for their final donation of 2024.

Our Christmas fundraiser will run from 16 December until 20 December 2024. During this time, we’ll be adding up online donations to our UK Christmas appeal and displaying the total on this page.

Our goal is to raise £3,000, which is equivalent to the cost of providing 31 cataract operations for children, but all donations will be used to support our life-changing work wherever the need is greatest.

One-off donations are included at their face value (e.g., £10 donation = £10 displayed on this page), and regular gifts are included as the value of 12 months’ donations (e.g., £5 donation a month = £60 displayed on this page).

The totaliser does not include Gift Aid.

We will update the information in the totaliser once a day while the fundraiser is running, to give us time to validate donations.
