Fatoumata Diouf (Chair)

As Sightsavers’ regional director for West Africa, Fatoumata supports the organisation’s programmes in 14 countries across west and central Africa. She is based in Senegal, and has spent more than a decade working for the commercial and INGO sectors in areas including alternative care, family strengthening, health, education, gender and disability inclusion.

She has extensive experience supporting programmes in emergency contexts and fragile countries, and has worked on post-Ebola recovery projects in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea. Fatoumata holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Georgia State University and an MBA from the University of Paris I: Pantheon-Sorbonne.

Jumoke Alagbe

Jumoke is a business development professional, with 17 years’ experience in resource mobilisation, networking and relationship building. She joined Sightsavers in 2015 and is currently an institutional funding senior adviser for West Africa, supporting work primarily in Nigeria, Cameroon and Liberia. Over the years, she has provided oversight for grant management of neglected tropical diseases, eye health, social inclusion and inclusive education programmes totalling more than £25 million.

Prior to joining Sightsavers, Jumoke worked in different capacities with other development organisations including UNICEF and WaterAid Nigeria, where she helped to raise income and grow the donor portfolio.

Dr Uche Amazigo

Uche is one of the few female Africans to have led a specialised UN agency, overseeing a highly successful multilateral partnership in global health. She is a professor of medical parasitology and public health, a social inclusion and development professional, and a former lecturer at the University of Nigeria and Nnamdi Azikiwe University.

Her career has focused on the control of neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) and community-led health and development programmes. Uche was director of the World Health Organization’s African Programme for Onchocerciasis Control from 2005-2011 and she took a lead role in establishing the innovative community-directed treatment strategy for the control of river blindness and other NTDs.

Uche currently heads the Pan-African Community Initiative on Education and Health. She holds a Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and a PhD from the University of Vienna.

Sunday Isiyaku

Sunday is Sightsavers’ country director for Nigeria and Ghana. He holds a PhD in zoology from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria in Nigeria and has more than 28 years’ experience in international development, mainly focused on health and disability.

He has extensive programme management experience and played a major role in expanding the treatment of neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) from a single-focus disease to an integrated programme for five diseases in seven states across Nigeria.

Mark Ramsden

Mark is the director of governance, legal and assurance at Sightsavers, based in the UK office. In his current role he oversees global security, regulatory compliance, safeguarding and risk management among other matters. Prior to joining Sightsavers, he enjoyed a long and varied career working for the UK Civil Service.
