Whizz past some of Edinburgh’s historic sites on one of the UK’s fastest marathons.

The 26.2-mile course starts in the city centre, passing Edinburgh Castle and the Palace of Holyroodhouse before the final stretch along the Victorian Portobello promenade.

More than 30,000 runners attend the event each year and the course is flat, meaning you can pick up your pace if you’re feeling competitive.

Edinburgh Marathon is part of the Edinburgh Marathon Festival, which offers multiple distance events to take part in over the weekend. If the full marathon distance isn’t your thing, why not try one of the following events?

How to register

You can sign up to run for Sightsavers by completing the online registration form on the Run for Charity website. The entry fee is £52, and we ask runners to raise £500 for our vital charity work.

The £500 you raise could pay for five operations to treat people with advanced trachoma.

If you’ve already signed up for this event, you can still fundraise for us. Before you become a Sightsavers fundraiser, you need to have confirmed your place with the race organiser. This means registering directly and paying your registration fee.
