World Water Week is an annual event that aims to draw attention to global water issues.

Organised by Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI), it’s a chance for experts, decision-makers, business innovators and professionals from a range of sectors come together for a conference in Sweden.

During the week, they network, exchange ideas and develop solutions to the most pressing water-related challenges in the world today.

Water for everyone

Each year, World Water Week has a different theme. The aim is to make people think about how important water is for prosperity, health and wellbeing, and how we can ensure everyone, wherever they live, can access it.

When is World Water Week?

The event is held every year in Stockholm in late August or early September. For updates, visit the World Water Week website.

Water helps to save sight

Water is vital to ensure good hygiene and cleanliness, which help to prevent eye diseases such as trachoma. As part of our work to fight trachoma, we improve access to water and sanitation facilities across the world.

Promoting water equality for all

World Water Week aims to ensure everyone can access clean water. This aligns with Sightsavers’ ethos of equality for everyone: we advocate for marginalised groups so everybody has an equal chance in life.
