Sightsavers has launched a partnership with eyewear brand Dime Optics to help save sight around the world.
Based in the United States, Dime Optics offers affordable, quality and on-trend sunglasses and blue light glasses. Part of DIFF Charitable Eyewear, which joined Sightsavers as a corporate partner in 2019, Dime Optics aims to use fashion as a force for good.
Every time someone buys a pair of glasses from Dime Optics, money from each sale goes towards Sightsavers’ work, including providing sight-saving cataract operations, helping to prevent blinding diseases like river blindness and trachoma, and supporting vision tests to identify eye conditions.
DIFF Charitable Eyewear has already helped give the gift of sight to more than three million people in Africa and Asia, and this new partnership with Dime Optics hopes to reach even more people in the coming years.
Teenage girls from Kaduna State marked the global event by attending the launch of a new project that will give them the skills they need to start their own business.
Speckles will be supporting Sightsavers’ eye health projects through annual donations, starting with the School Health Integrated Programming project in Liberia.
The visual technology company will be donating £10,000 each year towards Sightsavers’ work to help protect sight and fight for disability rights in Africa and Asia.
